Tandem Construction is looking to hire an Estimator. This role will support pre-construction and construction services on commercial construction projects in Southwest Florida. The Estimator will work with Company Principals, Sr. Estimator, Project Managers and Contract Administrators. The Estimator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes for concurrent projects
Develop rapport with subcontractors and suppliers
Communicate with subcontractors regarding scope of work and value engineering alternatives
Review bid documents and develop scope of work for each discipline
Create bid tabulation sheets for subcontractor bid comparison
Perform digital takeoffs using on-screen takeoff software
Qualify subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure in accordance to plans and specifications
Assist in developing estimates from conceptual, schematic, design development and final bid construction documents
Collaborate with design team in regards to details and product specifications
Prepare qualifications to accompany each level of estimate
Review projects with Company Principals in regards to subcontractor selection and final estimate preparation
Prepare all exhibits to accompany Owner contract
Assist in developing internal project database
Assist in developing customized data for estimating software
Attend local industry related networking events
Assist in preparing bid packages for state and/or local government projects
Required Skill Set:
You must meet the following minimum Criteria to apply for this position:
3+ Years of Experience in Commercial Construction in the fields of: Higher Education, Sports & Recreation, Local/County/State Government, Multi-Family, Commercial Office Construction, K-12, and Hotel
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred but not required depending on experience
Understanding of Plans and Specifications
Communication, Multi-Tasking, Time Management and Organizational Skills
Detail oriented and ability to work to deadlines
Experience with Construction Management Software:
Additional PM Tools (Finance and Accounting)

Envision is looking for a qualified Junior Estimator to join an extraordinary project team in Tampa. While this is an individual role, you will be involved in many facets of preconstruction with the ability to evolve our existing operations. As the Junior Estimator, you will support the team leader on preconstruction duties and responsibilities by leading projects or scopes of work from $5M to $50M in size independently, as well as larger projects and scopes of work with oversite. The position involves the following essential functions:
Provide accurate quantity takeoffs and initial pricing
Independently estimate Interior, Envelope, Site, and Structure Scopes of work with minimal direction and understand applicable specifications sections
Organize and develop an estimate using UniFormat, CSI, and Bid Tabulation
Develop and maintain project documents
Perform bid day process accurately and reliably
Understand basic scheduling and lead times
Assist in the prequalification of subcontractors / vendors and management of the sub database
Proficiently and regularly administer one or more BIM tools in daily practice
Reliably execute overhead, fee, and insurance add-ons, and billable wage rates and benefits
Participate in presentations to clients
Organize estimates to meet construction project manager needs
Identify major risk items of a project and a plan to mitigate those risks
Interpret conceptual, schematic, or bridging documents and develop cost estimates
Understand the design process
Manage bid pricing from vendors

Impeccable problem-solving skills
Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance.
